You might not be able to offer everything you want when it comes to healthcare, but the good news is you can do something! We have built a list of 8 simple and affordable ways to show great leadership and promote the health of your working and furloughed employees.

 

1. Offer Telemedicine Services

Times are changing and more and more providers are offering their services virtually. Telemedicine allows you to discuss symptoms, medical issues, and more with a healthcare provider in realtime from the comfort of your home. It also allows your employees to save significantly on office visits. Companies like MDlive, American Well, SnapMD, Teladoc, and more- make Telemedicine services simple.

At Sedera, our Members have access to Teladoc as part of their Membership.

 

2. Encourage Everyone to Use GoodRX 

GoodRx gathers current prices and discounts to help find the lowest cost pharmacy for each specific prescription in your area. According to GoodRx, “the average GoodRx customer saves $355 a year on their prescriptions.”

GoodRx is a 100% free tool that can help your employees, friends, family, and even yourself save on prescription costs at local pharmacies.

 

 

3. Sponsor a Direct Primary Care Membership 

A direct primary care doctor can partner in building a healthy lifestyle and can be the quarterback of your care. They offer more comprehensive care than you usually experience when paying a fee for service. By paying a monthly membership, patients have access to:

  • Office visits as often as you need them
  • Off-hours access via text, call, and video
  • Discounted or at cost labs, x-rays, and medications
  • Same or next-day appointments
  • A doctor who is invested in your physical, mental, and financial wellbeing

In addition, Direct Primary Care patients are able to consistently plan their monthly medical costs and reduce surprise financial events.

4. Provide Virtual Primary Care

Like Direct Primary Care, Virtual Primary Care is a membership model rather than fee for service, but gives you direct access to your physician virtually! This means that patients get face-to-face time with the same physician who knows them and their health history from the comfort of their own home. This is different from telemedicine where you are assigned to whichever doctor is available.

5. Promote Online Mental Health Resources

Mental Health, which includes emotional, psychological, and social well-being is so important. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices.

6. Sponsor Online Exercise Resources

Fitness can be a great way to escape the feeling of being trapped in your home. Plus, there are lots of ways to build a sense of teamwork while everyone is separated. Here are a few of our favorite virtual, fitness tools: 

  • Offer to reimburse an online workout community like Camp Gladiator or Daily Burn
  • Start a Slack  (or other team messaging) channel on health and fitness
  • Initiate a video conference workout — At Sedera, we do a weekly “Sally Song” in the office and have kept it up virtually as well.

7. Suggest Diet and Immune Resources

Food and diet play a huge factor in our overall health. Help your team access healthy food through subscriptions or delivery services.  

Delivery Services: Instacart/ Doordash

Local Farmers: Many local farms are delivering fresh meals and produce. Search for the best local produce delivery in your area by checking out LocalHarvest.org to see if delivery is available near you. Imperfect Foods is another great resource that delivers healthy food to your doorstep, while eliminating waste. 

Local Restaurants: Many local restaurants are offering family meals that can be picked up curbside or delivered. Follow your favorite local restaurants and eateries on Facebook and Instagram to see what specials they are currently running. You can also check out Eat Local First for more information on restaurant specials in your local area.

8. Provide Medical Cost Sharing
